DECEASED: CSM Perry Wallace DuMez U.S. Army Retired, age 81, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014. He was born 27 July 1932, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the eldest son of Perry Wallace DuMez, Sr. and Viola Marguerite MacArthur DuMez. He had resided in Cheraw since 1998.
CSM DuMez served 21 years in the Army Infantry, with tours in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam, earning both the Silver star and the Bronze star for valor. He was based mostly at Fort Jackson, and after his military service he owned and operated Perry Electric in Columbia, SC.
As he enjoyed hunting and fishing, he moved to Chesterfield County to pursue these and other interests, such as gardening, ballroom dancing, and animal husbandry. He was a devoted family man and considered this his life's greatest responsibility.
He is survived by his wife, Vana Middleton DuMez, of the home and by his daughter, Cherie DuMez of Mt. Pleasant, SC
A private Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
