Reid Whittington, Jr

Mr. Reid H. Whittington, Jr., age 70, entered into rest on Thursday, August 24, 2017. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 26 from the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Bro. Odell Shepherd. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Whittington was born September 16, 1946 in Asheboro, NC a son of the late Reid Harding Whittington, Sr. and Katherine Paul Whittington Cox. He was a retired employee of INA USA with over 36 years of service and a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Whittington was a member of Windsor Park Freewill Baptist Church. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Reid enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially racing and golf.

In addition to his parents, Reid was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Aaron Reid Whittington and Brandon Ray Royer; 2 sisters, Peggy Whittington and Alice Harrellson; and 2 brothers-in-law, Gene Chappel and Kermit Harrellson.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Linda K. Whittington of the home; son, Ruben James Royer of Oakland, IL; grandchildren, Kennedy Jane Whittington, Emily Royer, Rebecca Royer, and Brandon Royer; brothers, David Whittington and Ronnie Whittington; sisters, Sue (Jerry) Southard, Mary (Odell) Shepherd, Jeanette Chappel, and Barbara (Robert) Funderburk.
