Reverend Gregory was born January 11, 1947 in Jefferson, SC a son of the late George and Helen Mae Rollins Gregory. He was a former employee of Caro-Knit of Jefferson. After he received the Lord as his personal savior, Bro. Pete surrendered to the call of God on his life to preach the gospel in 1982. He was licensed and ordained in May of 1983 at Calvary Baptist Church and began attending Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute. He pastored Oakland Baptist of Chesterfield, Refuge Baptist of Kershaw, Rocky Creek Baptist of Jefferson, Antioch Baptist of Jefferson, and currently Smyrna Baptist Church of Pageland. Reverend Gregory was a long-time member of the Woodmen of the World. He was known as a jack of all trades, who could “piddle” on anything. Bro. Pete enjoyed going out to eat with his friends, especially fish, and was proud to be known as a GMC Pickup man. Of all things he enjoyed, Bro. Pete never missed a chance to share the gospel and good news of the Lord Jesus Christ with anyone he came in contact with.
In addition to his parents, Reverend Gregory was also preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Leigh Gregory; and brother, Donnie Gregory.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 53 years, Dianne S. “Anne” Gregory of the home; children, Stacey (Paula) Price of Jefferson, SC, Katrina (Michael) Manus of Monroe, NC, and Jimmy (Tracy) Gregory of Jefferson, SC; grandchildren, Ryne Manus, Ashleigh (Shea) Rollins, Tristan Gregory, Alston (Carrie) Gregory, Aiden Gregory, Kyle Price, Alexa Burr, Tara Hall, and Zachary Price; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Lainey, Evan, Kyngston, Liam, and Hudson; sister, Annette (Doug) Deese of Lancaster, SC; and numerous nieces and nephew.
Memorials may be made in memory of his daughter, the late Amanda Leigh Gregory to the Alzheimer’s Association, SC Gift Processing, 4600 Park Rd, Ste. 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
