DECEASED: Mr. Richard Thomas Rivers, age 52, died Monday, December 1, 2008

FUNERAL SERVICE: 3:00 PM, Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Zoar United Methodist Church

INTERMENT: will follow at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery

VISITATION: 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home

HISTORY: Mr. Rivers was born May 29, 1956 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Ingram Jackson and Margaret R. Rivers. He was a 1974 graduate of Chesterfield High School. Richard received his BA degree from Baptist College (Charleston Southern University) and did other post graduate work. He retired in 2008 as Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Staff at WJB Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC. Richard had 30 years of distinguished service to the Department of Veterans Affairs, and our veteran population. He was instrumental in helping to establish 7 V.A. Clinics for veterans throughout South Carolina. Richard was an accomplished pianist and organist. He was a former member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 650, a member of the Order of The Arrow, and member of Zoar United Methodist Church.

1 Sister: Brenda (Bill) Hough of Chesterfield, SC
3 Nephews: Emmet (Lawson) Hough of Columbia, SC, Austin (Beth) Hough and Jay Rivers of Chesterfield, SC
2 Great Nieces: Katherine and Jenna Hough
2 Great Nephews: William and Ethan Hough
