Ms. Rita H. Melton, age 68, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at her home surrounded by family, after her brave and courageous fight with brain cancer. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery by Pastor Mike Phares and Brent Taylor. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at her home.
Rita was born October 2, 1948 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Clyde Robert and Carolyn Graves Rhynes. She spent many years as a resident of North Myrtle Beach, where she worked with NBSC and Carolina Mortgage Company. Rita enjoyed the beach, fishing, golfing, shopping, and playing board games with friends. Her most enjoyable and precious times were those spent with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Jerry W. Hurst; stepson, Steven Melton; and 2 brothers-in-law, Robert Mills and Lathaniel Wilkerson.
Survivors include her daughters, Jackie Hurst (Randell) Rivers, and Amy Hurst Watson; stepdaughters, Gina (Thomy) Windham, Rita (Leland) Bullard; grandchildren, Christopher Hurst, Rebecca Rivers, Karla Watson, Anna Watson, Kyle Watson, Brian (Stephanie) Rivers, and Daniel Rivers; great grandchildren, Joshua and Tori Rivers; twin brother, Richard (Elaine) Rhyne; brother, Mickey (Peggy) Hurst; sisters, Betty Wilkerson, and Patsy Mills; sister-in-law, Linda Hurst; also numerous loved nieces, nephews and cousins; and best friend, Mary Boan.
