Mr. Robert Carlyle Smith, age 67, entered into rest on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at his home. Funeral Services will be 5:00 PM Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Ruby Baptist Church by Pastor Ronald Thurman with burial to follow in the Lower Macedonia Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 4:00 – 5:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the service in the fellowship hall of Ruby Baptist Church.

Mr. Smith was born May 27, 1950 in Darlington County, SC a son of the late John B. and Minnie Lee Hunt. He was a faithful member of Ruby Baptist Church. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Carlyle enjoyed time spent with his family

In addition to his parents, Carlyle was also preceded in death by great aunt and uncle, Margaret and Lide Winburn; step brother, Jerry Lee Hunt; and step sister, Louie Dean Beech.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Helen Smith of the home; 2 sons, Robert (Angie) Smith of Ruby, SC and Jamie (Kristen) Smith of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Hannah Ross of Pageland, SC, Cierra Logan and Brittany Smith both of Lugoff, SC, Michael Smith of Ruby, SC, Adam Smith and Kaitlin Smith both of Chesterfield, SC; and  great grandchildren, Miley Ross of Pageland, SC, and soon to be arriving, Baby Boy Ross; sisters, Linda (Johnny) Wallace of Hartsville, SC, Brenda (Tommy) Caulder of Cheraw, SC; step brothers, Tommy (Kathy) Hunt and Johnny (Diane) Hunt both of Cheraw, SC; step sisters, Mary Goodale and Lillian Ann Bradley both of Cheraw, SC, and Frances (Jerry Faye) Rivers of Hartsville, SC; nieces, Tammy Farmer of Hartsville, SC and Amy Caulder of Cheraw, SC; nephews, George Edward (Pat) Farmer of Kershaw, SC and John Wesley Graves; also special cousins, Elaine (Leslie) Burr of Myrtle Beach, SC.

The family requests that memorials be made to the “Men’s Ministry” of Ruby Baptist Church, P.O. Box 5, Ruby, SC 29741
