Mr. Robert W. “Bird” Gainey, age 62, entered into rest on Monday, September 18, 2017 at his home. The family will host a memorial service at a later date.

Mr. Gainey was born November 18, 1954 in Chester, SC a son of the late Malcolm Gainey and Dorothy Outen. He was a retired employee of Cheraw Dyeing and Finishing with 28 years of service. Bird was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, spending time with his wife and family, and playing the guitar.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gainey was also preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Wilkes; and 1 brother, Bill Gainey.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Sandra F. Gainey of the home; daughters, Shannon Broadway of Wadesboro, NC, and Tasha Gainey of Cheraw, SC; 5 grandchildren; brother, Olin Gainey of Kershaw, SC; step-brothers, Larry Gainey of PA, and Scott Outen of Lancaster, SC.
