Rodger Clifton Griggs

 Mr. Rodger Clifton “Chuck” Griggs, age 75, has entered into rest. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 13, 2024 in the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Donnie Faulkenbury and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the Patrick Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home. 

 Mr. Griggs was born January 21, 1949 in Chesterfield County, SC the son of the late John Murphy and Eula Mae Brown Griggs. Chuck graduated from Cheraw High School in 1968 and went on to work as a transporter for Patrick Auto Parts for over 50 years. Mr. Griggs’ passion in life was for the Patrick Fire Department where he served for over 30 years as a member and chief. Chuck also served on the Patrick town council for many years. He also attended Brown Springs Baptist Church regularly. Chuck enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, and vacationing in the mountains.

 In addition to his parents, Mr. Griggs was also preceded in death by his sister, Joan Dale (Willie) Lear; and the mother of his children, Shirley Griggs.

 Survivors include his children, Rodger Clifton Griggs, Jr. of Cheraw, SC, James (Amy) Griggs of Patrick, SC, Russell (Nichole) Griggs of Patrick, SC, Harvey (Melissa) Griggs of Patrick, SC; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Johnny Griggs, Joe (Janet) Griggs; sisters, Lisa (Jeff) Jacobs, Janie (Jessie) Jones, Mary Lou (Jim) Riley, Susie (Jerry) Jones, Shirley (Bob) Keefe; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

 Memorials may be made to the Patrick Rural Volunteer Fire Department, 437 Turnage St., Patrick, SC 29584.
