Ronald Wayne Johnson

Cheraw, SC – Mr. Ronald Wayne Johnson, age 78, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.

Mr. Johnson was born on April 12, 1946, in Covington, KY, to the late Oscar Junior Johnson and Margaret Elizabeth Karn Johnson. He was proud to be an Eagle Scout and dedicated his professional life to the field of computer science, utilizing his keen intelligence. A faithful member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, he served as a Lay Leader and was also active in the local chapter of The Gideons International, where he passionately shared the message of the gospel with others.

An avid history enthusiast, Mr. Johnson traveled extensively and explored 59 countries throughout his lifetime. He found joy in woodworking and computer networking in his spare time.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his daughter, Heather (Marty) Merriman of Hartsville, SC; granddaughter, Bryce (Ricky) Knight of Chesterfield, SC; great-grandchildren, Casey Hair, Alayna Knight, and soon-to-arrive, Winter Knight; as well as a cherished brother of the heart for nearly 50 years, Ray (Cheryl) Poole of Columbia, SC.
