Ronald "Jed" Oliver

Chesterfield, SC

Mr. Ronald Jed Oliver, age 68, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at his home. Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Friday, June 24, 2022 at Pine Grove Baptist Church by Pastor Mark Phillips and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Oliver was born August 26, 1953 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Knowlton and Viola Pittman Oliver. He was a retired employee of Conbraco Industries with over 43 years of service and a former employee of Video Limited. He was also a long-time volunteer with Hospice of Chesterfield County and would sit with male hospice patients and do yard work for those in need. A faithful member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Jed was a member and assistant Sunday school teacher of the Adult III class, and was very active in the Baptist Men’s group.

A man who never met a stranger, Jed was a true Christian man that was a friend to all. He enjoyed attending area brotherhood meetings, local revivals and gospel singings, and was a faithful supporter of Evangelist Tyler Blue. Jed not only loved his friends, but his family was very dear to him. He treated all of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews as they were his own children.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Oliver was also preceded in death by his twin- brother, Donald Jay Oliver; sister, Violet Oliver Hargrove; brothers-in-law, Jewell Gulledge, and Ray Usher; nephew, Barry Usher; and niece, Donna Pruitt.

Survivors include his brother, W.K. (Lisa) Oliver of Pageland, SC; sisters, Betty Gulledge of Chesterfield, SC, and Joyce Usher of Kershaw, SC; nieces, Glenda (Kevin) Denkins, Ann (Jason) Perkins, Yolanda (Chris) Smith, and Sarah Gulledge; nephews, Levander (Wendy) Oliver, and J.R. Usher; numerous great nieces and great nephews.
