Mr. Rufus Jackson “R.J.” Ussery, Jr., age 47, entered into rest on Monday, May 25, 2020. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Chesterfield Cemetery by Pastor Doug Anderson. Friends may stop by Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home on Wednesday, between the hours of 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM to pay their respects. The service will be streamed live on the Miller Rivers Caulder Funeral Home Facebook page.

Mr. Ussery was born September 14, 1972 in Monroe, NC a son of Linny Ruth Ussery Gardner. He was a 1991 graduate of Chesterfield High School and a former employee of Carolina Canners. In his earlier years, R.J. enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in later years became a computer guru. He enjoyed meeting and connecting with friends through social media and loved all types of music. Mr. Ussery was an active member of the SC Statewide Independent Living Council. A man who always had a positive outlook on life, R.J. had a personality, combined with a great sense of humor, that would put anyone at ease and keep you laughing.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah S. Ussery of the home; step-daughters, Christina (Sunshine) Hodge Swaney of Pendleton, SC, and Lori Hodge (Chad) Bailey of Chesterfield, SC; step grandson, Kristopher Bailey; mother, Linny (Billy) Gardner of Chesterfield, SC; sister, Amanda Miles of Florence, SC.
