HISTORY: Mrs. Burch was born May 30, 1912 in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late Carl and Josie Brantley Douglas. She was a lifelong resident of Lumberton, NC, where she was a member of the Chestnut Street Methodist Church and assisted Mrs. Daisy Jenkins with the Sunday school classes. Ruth taught in the Lumberton schools for 35 years. She was an avid reader, a life long learner, a wonderful conversationalist, and a person of great empathy and dignity. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, D.H. Burch, 5 sisters and 1 brother.
