Sallie Eddins Short, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2022, with loved ones at her side. There will be a graveside, celebration of life service on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 2:00 pm in the Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery with Brent Taylor officiating. There will be an informal visitation following the service at the cemetery.

Sallie Short was born on October 27, 1930, in Chesterfield, South Carolina to the late Clinton Jackson Eddins, Sr. and Florence Davis Eddins. She graduated from Chesterfield High School, attended Wingate College and Furman University, and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and proudly taught as an elementary school teacher in Chesterfield County for 32 years. She was married 40 years to the late James McLeod Short, also of Chesterfield. She loved her church, Zoar United Methodist Church, and served on various church committees. She loved attending church activities, loved teaching, shopping, playing bridge, and going to plays with her friends, but her greatest love was her family. She is survived by and was most proud of her children, Mona Short Campbell (James) of Chesterfield, James (Jim) M. Short, Jr. (Lori) of Lancaster, SC, and her grandchildren, Mary Florence Watson (Brad and son, Noah Johns) of Pageland, SC; Trey Short, Chris Short (Ronni), and Brice Short (Tabitha) all of Lancaster, SC; and one great grandson; Harrison Alexander Short (Brice and Tabitha).
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers; Wilford “Buck” Eddins, Leward Eddins, Vincent Eddins, and Clinton Jackson (CJ) Eddins, and sisters Nevelyn Freeman, Glennie Cromer, and Vinnie Attaway.
The family requests that memorials be made in memory of “Miss Sallie” to Zoar United Methodist Church, 2842 Zoar Road, Cheraw, SC 29520, or any Hospice Organization of your choice.
Miss Sallie’s family would like to thank Spring Hill Assisted Living of Pageland, SC; Cheraw Health Care of Cheraw, SC and Regency Hospice, Agape Hospice, and McLeod Hospice all of Chesterfield County for their care of Miss Sallie in the past few years and especially the kind care she was given most recently.
