Mrs. Sandra Jenkins Thurman, age 82, entered into rest on Monday, April 19, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. A private family funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Ruby Baptist Church by Pastor Ronald Thurman. The service may be viewed online via the Ruby Baptist Church Facebook Page.
The family invites all who are able to join them graveside at approximately 3:30 PM Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Ruby Cemetery for the Service of Committal. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Family and friends are welcomed to view and pay their respects to Mrs. Thurman on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 between the hours of 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thurman was born March 3, 1939 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late George S. and Elsie Kelly Jenkins. She was a retired Victim’s Assistance Advocate with the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office and a former employee of Chesterfield High School. A faithful member of Ruby Baptist Church, Sandra was very active in the W.M.U., and was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member. She enjoyed traveling and watching ALL sports. She will be fondly remembered as a lady with a loving and huge heart who loved her family very deeply.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thurman was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert S. “Bobby” Jenkins.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 65 years, William “Pete” Thurman of the home; 3 sons, William Kelly (Kim) Thurman of Lumberton, NC, George Allan (Terry) Thurman, and John Kevin (Angie) Thurman both of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Holly Pankey, Alyssa (Austin) Britt, Mary-Kaitlin Thurman, Will Thurman, Leah (Clayton) Hurst, Lauren (James) Griggs, Ryan (Margie) Johnson, and Anna (JL) Schaff; 6 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Chizuko Jenkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to long-time caregiver, Leslie Smith, and the entire staff of Regency SouthernCare Hospice of Chesterfield for their excellent care, love, and support.
