Sarah Anna Via Melton

          Mrs. Sarah Anna Via Melton, age 86, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2023 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor David Bessinger and Brent Taylor. A private committal service will follow in the Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, January 27, 2023 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

          Mrs. Melton was born October 12, 1936 in Columbia, SC a daughter of the late Irvin James and Anna Pearl Shull Via. She attended the University of South Carolina and was a member of Chesterfield Presbyterian Church. A loving homemaker, Anna enjoyed traveling, working in her flowers, and soaking in the sun by the pool. Mrs. Melton was an adventurous spirit who enjoyed living over seas and attaining her pilot’s license. She will be fondly remembered for her selfless and giving spirit who was a gracious host to everyone she met.

          In addition to her parents, Mrs. Melton was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carroll “Bobby” Melton; and sister, Jean Tracy.

          Survivors include her children, Robert Carroll Melton, Jr. of Chesterfield, SC, Jeffrey Dean (Kimberly) Melton of Dillon, SC, and Theresa “Terry” Lynn Melton of Eatonton, GA; brother, Irvin J. Via; sisters-in-law, Josephine “Jo” Melton of Sunset Beach, NC, and Rose Melton of Seneca Falls, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

          Flowers are welcomed or memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
