Sarah Elizabeth Hunt Oxendine

Cheraw, SC

          Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Hunt Oxendine, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, June 10, 2023 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Dr. Steve West. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

          The burial service will be at 5:00 PM, Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Hunt Family Cemetery, Rowland, NC officiated by Reverend Johnny Locklear.

          Mrs. Oxendine was born August 5, 1948 in Rowland, NC a daughter of the late Alton and Leatha Mae Locklear Hunt. She was a retired employee of Dress for Less and a former employee of Wal-Mart for many years. A member of Westside Baptist Church, Mrs. Oxendine loved the Lord, her family, and friends. She was a lady who enjoyed  talking and never met a stranger. Sarah enjoyed shopping, working in her garden, working cross word puzzles, and taking a ride to sight see. Of all things she enjoyed, taking care of and spoiling her girls were of most importance.

          In addition to her parents, Mrs. Oxendine was also preceded in death by her husband, N.L. Oxendine; sons, Jimmy Ray Oxendine, and Matthew Wayne “Matt” Oxendine; step-father, James Luther Hunt; and siblings, Robert Paul Hunt, Roger Dale Hunt, Louise Hunt, Marie Hunt, and Jeanette Hunt.

          Survivors include her daughters, Harley Oxendine, and Jayda Oxendine both of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Kylie Shae Brown, Avryl Rayn Oxendine, Trinity Lang Hunt, and Tyler James McElveen; siblings, Clara (Carvie) Hunt Owens, Joyce Hunt, and Glenn Davis Hunt; sisters of the heart, Cathy J. Brayboy, Patsy Fowler, and Phyllis Johnson; daughter of the heart, Tara Hunt; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
