Juanita Lewis passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2024 at Springhill Assisted Living in Pageland. She was born August 30, 1934 in Oconee County, SC. She is predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Margie Sloan Crowe, her son, Richard Chapman, her sister, Betty Jo Patterson, and beloved husband, Ralph Lewis.
An unwavering faith in God is what brought Juanita through the many valleys of life. Before Alzheimer’s, she was the strongest woman we will ever know. Because of a huge heart filled with joy, she was a dedicated volunteer. A Hospice volunteer for many years, she enjoyed helping both at the office, as well as sitting with patients. Many hours were also spent helping to fill backpacks with food for school children.
Juanita’s favorite hobby was being outdoors, where she spent countless hours working in her yard and flowers. She also enjoyed traveling and was always sitting on go. She was a faithful member of Providence Baptist Church, where she served in many positions (her favorite being planning senior citizen trips).
Nothing brought Juanita more joy than hosting regular family dinners. She was never happier than when her house was filled with family, great food, and laughter.
Survivors include children Dennis (Barbara) Chapman of Mount Gilead, NC, Ronnie (Dell) Chapman and Gary (Sherry) Chapman, both of Mount Croghan, Eugene (Lynn) Chapman and Karen Chapman (Rickey) Jenkins, both of Pageland. Grandchildren include Chris (Kelly) Chapman, Candace (Ken) Bloch, Charles (Heather) Chapman, Danielle Boyd, Ethan Jenkins, Lori (Nic) Campbell, Wyatt Chapman, Rhett Chapman, and Tanner Chapman. Great-Grandchildren include Curt Chapman, Kenzie Chapman, Stella Bloch, Audrey Boyd, Tucker Boyd, and Carson Campbell. Her surviving sister is Evelyn Chalmers of Newberry, SC.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Providence Baptist Church by Pastor David Bridwell, Rev. Roger Wall, and Rev. Mack Mullis with burial to follow in the First Baptist Church of Pageland Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Our family is forever indebted to the staff of Springhill Assisted Living for the love and compassion shown to Juanita during her years with them. Additionally, we cannot imagine going through the past year without the support and care provided by Gentiva Hospice.
