Mrs. Sarah Margaret Brown Bodkin, age 81, entered into rest on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Brown Cemetery by Dr. A.B. Brown. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.

Mrs. Bodkin was born April 27, 1936 in Rockingham, NC a daughter of the late Maudy and Pearl Ruby Bailey Brown. She was a homemaker and faithful member of Promised Land Baptist Church of Gastonia, NC. Sarah Margaret enjoyed working word puzzles, listening to music and reading her bible.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bodkin was also preceded in death by her husband, Foster Bodkin; daughters, Glenda Kay Locklear and Sarah Ann Smith; brothers, Ray and Roy Brown; sisters, Alma Cowick and Vivian Smith.

Survivors include her children, Billie Jean (Chris) Brown, and James W. Norton, Jr. both of Mt. Holly, NC; grandchildren, Greg Brown of Albemarle, NC, David (Michelle) Stephens of Gastonia, NC, Christopher Michael Brown, and Jamie Wayne Norton both of Mt. Holly, NC, Kenneth Norton of Stanley, NC, Travis Eric Norton of Hamlet, NC, Bryan Keith Locklear of Mt. Holly, NC, and Michelle Lynn Locklear of Cramerton, NC; great grandchildren, Joe Brown, Nick Brown, Chandler David Stephens, Ashlyn Lewis, Nathan Lewis, Brently Smith, Alexis Grace Smith, Layla Locklear, and Taylor Brown; siblings, Ruby Brown Cline of Hamlet, NC, Oriel Wilson, Larry Brown both of Rockingham, NC, and Charles Brown of Hamlet, NC.
