DECEASED: Mr. Richard Scott Jacobs, Sr. age 76, passed away very peacefully, surrounded by his family, Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at his home, after a courageous battle with ALS for almost eight years.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 4:00 P.M. Friday, October 16, 2015 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Cheraw, SC
INTERMENT: will follow in the Church Cemetery with Military Honors
VISITATION: 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, Chesterfield, SC.
HISTORY: Mr. Jacobs was born March 15, 1939, in Chesterfield, SC, a son of the late Essie Davis Jacobs and Spofford Anson Jacobs. He was a graduate of Cheraw High School and was in the trucking industry for 25 years. Scott was then owner and operator of Scott’s Mini Mart and Restaurant until his retirement in 2000. Mr. Jacobs was a life long member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the chancel choir until his illness. Scott was a U. S. Army Veteran and a Mason. He was a true people person, and never met a stranger. Scott loved his family and friends very much and always cherished the time spent with them. He also enjoyed conversation with family and friends, and was never at a loss for words. Scott was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing golf and watching sports on TV. He was an avid Gamecock and Jeff Gordon fan. Scott’s courage and faith in God, during his illness was an inspiration to all his family and friends. He never asked why me. In addition to his parents, Scott was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Jacobs Campbell.

Son: Richard Scott (Shannon) Jacobs, Jr. of Cheraw, SC
Daughters: Dana J. (Brad) Evans of Pageland, SC and Ann J. (Steve) Smith of Cheraw, SC
10 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren
Brothers: Rev. Ralph (Novella) Jacobs, Sr. of Chesterfield, SC and Anson (Rebekah) Jacobs of Cheraw, SC
Also a number of Nieces and Nephews
