Shelby Martin Crawley

Mrs. Shelby Martin Crawley, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at her home with her family by her side. The funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Cross Roads Baptist Church by Pastor Max White with burial to follow in the Ruby Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service in Family Life Center of Cross Roads Baptist Church.

Mrs. Crawley was born December 10, 1937 in Chesterfield County, SC a daughter of the late Duncan and Lillian Turnage Martin. Shelby was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved fiercely and wholeheartedly. She was always giving to others and putting everyone before herself.

She retired from DSS with over 30 years of service. She also served on the Foster Care Review Board until she was 82. Granny loved working with her flowers, crafting, and baking. Her children and grandchildren were her heartbeat and purpose in life.

She made many trips to Greenwood during Kristen’s college days, as well as numerous road trips attending birthday celebrations for the great grands in N.C. Granny was Nataliegh’s party planner when it came to the menu, she was ready to make anything.

A faithful member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, Shelby served on numerous committees and was an active member of their WMU. She enjoyed being in the choir and singing in their Easter cantata and Christmas cantata. Many people commented on enjoying her solos.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Crawley was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Tommy L. Crawley; sister, Patricia Burnette; brother-in-law, Bob Burnette; daughter-in-law, Sybil Crawley; brothers & sisters in-law, Ralph (Sue) Crawley, Gerald (Barbara) Crawley; and sister-in-law, Cheria Goodman.

Survivors include her children, Martin Crawley of Ruby, SC, and Scotty (Kathy) Crawley of Salisbury, NC; grandchildren, Kristen (Drew) Sellers of Cheraw, SC, and Jeremy (Amber) Crawley of Lexington, NC; great grandchildren, Nataleigh Sellers, Griffin Crawley, Sadie Crawley, and Tessa Crawley; sisters of the heart, Doris Johnson, Connie Rushing, and Sylvia Rushing.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that could never be matched!
