HISTORY: Miss Johnson was born March 23, 1936 in Ninety Six, SC the daughter of the late John G. and Nettie Mae Owens Johnson. She was a graduate of Pageland High School. Shirley was a legal secretary for 55 years and retired as legal secretary with Attorney James I. Redfearn after almost 50 years of service. She was a charter member of the Chesterfield County Rural Water Agency, which she helped to organize. She also presently serves as a member of the Board of Directors. Shirley is a lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, WMU Director, choir member, nursery worker, church council member, GA worker, and many other committees. She truly loved her church. Shirley enjoyed cooking and is known for her delicious cakes, pies, and her outstanding pumpkin loaf which she shared with all the sick and shut-ins in the community. In addition to her parents, Shirley is also preceded in death by her brother John T. Johnson.
