DECEASED: Mrs. Sylvia Rivers Johnson, age 71, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at her home.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 3:00 P.M. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Patrick Baptist Church

INTERMENT: will follow in Patrick Cemetery

VISITATION: 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. Friday, May 27, 2016 prior to the service at the Church

HISTORY: Mrs. Johnson was born March 10, 1945, in Hartsville, SC, a daughter of the late Pittman Victor and Catherine Vena Sellers Rivers. She received her BSN degree from USC and was a registered nurse. Sylvia was employed by the SC Dept. of Disabilities and Special Needs as director of QDIP at the Thad E. Saleeby Developmental Center. Sylvia has been a life long advocate for persons with special needs, and was a member of Patrick Baptist Church. Sylvia enjoyed growing flowers, reading, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents Sylvia was also preceded in death by her brother Michael P. “Mike” Rivers.
