Mr. Thomas “Tom” Hoover Rhyne, age 77, entered into rest on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Elmcroft of Newton, NC. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Monday, April 20, 2020 at Thompson Creek Baptist Church Cemetery by Pastor Jerry Woolery.

Mr. Rhyne was born February 9, 1943 in Lincolnton, NC a son of the late Hoover Rhyne and Annie Sue Heffner Rhyne Harrison. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a retired employee with the U.S.P.S. working for many years at the Mint Hill Post Office. He volunteered his time coaching the Carolina TarWheels sports teams. Tom was a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Charlotte, NC where he served as former R.A. Leader and church softball coach. He also enjoyed playing softball and golf.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Rhyne was also preceded in death by his brother, Gordon Dean Rhyne.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Vicki G. Rhyne; 2 sons, Charles (Stephanie) Rhyne of Concord, NC, and Michael E. (Samantha) Rhyne of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Natalie (Jake) Rhodes of Maiden, NC; grandchildren, Rachel Rhyne, Sydney Rhyne, and Justin Rhyne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
