Mr. Thomas Walter “Tommy” Blackwell, age 79, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, December 8, 2019 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. William Griggs and Rev. Jerry Bowers with burial to follow in the Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Blackwell was born May 11, 1940 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Cass and Emily Jane Smothers Blackwell. He was a retired employee of Stanley Tools with 20 years of service, and a former employee of Bud Ford of Cheraw and Springs Cotton Mill. Tommy was a faithful member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon. An avid outdoorsman and gardener, Mr. Blackwell also enjoyed raising rabbits, peacocks, and caring for his animals.

In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his siblings, Gladys Blackwell, David Blackwell, and Faye Sellers.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Margaret Faulkenberry Blackwell of the home; children, Barbara Blackwell (Jim) Hill, Brenda Blackwell Shaw, and Sharon Blackwell (Gene) Pearson all of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Candace (Phillip Leviner) Burgess, Chad Burgess, Cody Pearson, Stacia (Bobby) Oliver, and Lauren Emily Pearson; great-grandchildren, Ava, Jagger, Paxton, Chloe, Sophia, Savannah, and Jace; sister, Alise Cassidy of Spartanburg, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
