DECEASED: Mrs. Velma Elizabeth Smith Benton, age 81, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at her home.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel

INTERMENT: will follow in the Chesterfield Cemetery

VISITATION: 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

HISTORY: Mrs. Benton was born September 9, 1931 in Clarksville, GA, a daughter of the late Glenn and Ethel Roberts Smith. She was a retired secretary, having worked for an Attorney and was also secretary of Chesterfield Baptist Church. Mrs. Benton was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church. Velma enjoyed making crafts, cross stitching, needle point, painting, cooking and flowers. She was especially proud of her Christmas tree, and her hand made Christmas ornaments. In addition to her parents, Velma was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Glenda Lee Benton and by a son, Steven Paul Benton.

Daughter: Elizabeth Benton Norton of Chesterfield, SC
2 Grandchildren: Cassi E. and Julian Paul Norton
3 Brothers: Troy Smith, Larry Smith, and Doug Smith all of Anderson, SC
2 Sisters: Betty Herring of Anderson, SC and Brenda Smith of Bradley, SC
