Virginia Ballard King

Chesterfield, SC

Mrs. Virginia Ballard King, age 85, entered into rest on rest on Sunday, January 13, 2019 surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Shiloh United Methodist Church by Pastor Fred McDaniel and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the service in the fellowship hall of the church.

Mrs. King was born May 30, 1933 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Clarence Frank and Virginia Davidson Ballard. She was a former employee of Dr. Wiley’s medical practice, Head Start of Chesterfield, and worked alongside her late husband Jack at Niven Hardware for many years. Mrs. King was a life-long member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and the Shiloh U.M.W. She enjoyed spending time with her family and working word search puzzles.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was also preceded in death by her husband, Dewey L. “Jack” King, Sr.; and sisters, Lera B. King, Vera White, Jackie Thrush, Omogene Eargle, and
Ruby Smith.

Survivors include her children, Dewey L. (Pam) King of Ruby, SC, Lawrence G. (Amy) King, and Ann K. (Nelson) Hendrick both of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Caroline K. (Charlie) Miles, Jackson (Crista) King, Jack (Nikki) Hendrick, Alyson H. (Adam) Dyar, Hannah King, and Langley K. (J.T.) Cutchin; great grandchildren, Briley Miles, Ella King, Jamison Miles, Corbett Cutchin, Spencer King, Hudson Hendrick, Stella Kate Dyar, Hendrick Dyar, and Kolin Campbell.

The family would like to thank the caregivers, Rachel Curtis, Mary Sellers, Sherry Hinson, Glenda Lisenby, Doris Ellis, Latrice Rivers, and the staff of Cheraw Healthcare for the love and care shown to Mrs. King and her family.
