HISTORY: Mr. King was born July 3, 1937 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late William Walter King, Sr. and Ella Rivers King. He was a 1955 graduate of Chesterfield High School, and a 1959 graduate of USC, where he received his BA degree in education. Walter was a retired school administrator with 32 years of service in Public Education in S.C. Walter was a former assistant principal for 12 years and worked for 20 years with the federal program including 15 years with the SC Department of Education. Following his retirement, Walter worked as store manager with B.C. Moore's and Goodys. Mr. King was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and a former member of Chesterfield Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, and taught Sunday school for 50 years. In addition to his parents, Walter was also preceded in death by his brother, Frankie King.
