Wanda Boatwright Lewis

Chesterfield, SC - Mrs. Wanda Boatwright Lewis, age 79, peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on February 28, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, led by Pastor Dr. Lindsey Powell, Pastor Ricky “Sweet” Jenkins, and Brent Taylor, with burial following in the Lower Macedonia Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Born on March 25, 1945, in Chesterfield County, SC, Mrs. Lewis was the daughter of the late Robert L. “Bob” and Christine Lee Boatwright. She retired from Aramark Services and had previously worked with CHESCO Services and Stanley Tools. A faithful member of Lower Macedonia Baptist Church, Wanda served the Lord through the years as VBS director, Sunday School Teacher, WMU member, and on several other committees. Over the last two decades, she, along with her husband, participated in various mission projects across the Southeast with SC Campers on Mission.

Wanda enjoyed hobbies such as sewing, fishing, and riding ATVs. She was especially well-known for her baking skills, often gifting friends and family with her cakes and pies. As the matriarch of her family, she cherished organizing family gatherings and was affectionately known as the family engineer, always able to make things work. Her greatest joy was being "Granny Lewis" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas E. Boatwright and Floyd H. Boatwright.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, Wilson “Bubba” Lewis, Jr. of the home; daughters Melinda (Wade) Warr of Alcolu, SC and Vickie (Brent) Petrea of Concord, NC; grandchildren Lewis Warr of Gable, SC, Caroline Warr of Alcolu, SC, Graham (Hannah) Petrea of Harrisburg, NC, and Carson (Katie) Petrea of Raleigh, NC; great-grandchildren Mary June, Sarah Mayes, Olivia, and the anticipated arrival of Baby Girl Petrea in July; sister Sylvia B. (Elmer) Wallace of Chesterfield, SC; brother Wayne (Frances) Boatwright of Cheraw, SC; sisters-in-law Diane Boatwright of Hartsville, SC and Vera Mae Boatwright of Cheraw, SC; and close extended family, Elaine Mosley of Clover, SC and Kathy Forester of Nashua, NH, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Campers on Mission – SC chapter, c/o Ken Hall, P.O. Box 391, Iva, SC 29655.
