Chesterfield, SC   Mr. William D. "Bill" Merriman, age 87, entered into rest on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at McLeod Health - Cheraw with his family by his side. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Bill was born on January 25th 1937 to the late John G and Della Douglas Merriman. He graduated from Chesterfield high school and served in the US army from 1959-1963, where he achieved the rank of Specialist 4th Class. He worked for 20+ years at Carolina Power and Lights as a maintenance mechanic and maintenance planner. 


In his life he attended Shiloh United Methodist, Oakland Baptist church, and Douglas Mill Baptist church. His hobbies included gardening, politics, listening to the radio, bird watching, fishing, and visiting with friends and family. 


In addition to his parents Mr. Merriman was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Merriman Lisenby, John Gary Merriman, Sarah Merriman Ross, and nephew Kenny Lisenby. 


He is survived by his sisters Margaret Merriman Moore, and Mary Merriman Burch. His children, Sara Beth Abbott and husband Marty, John William Merriman and wife Sarah, William Douglas Merriman and wife Tara.


His grandchildren Hunter and Sophie (children of Sara Beth), Cole, Coen, Cortlin, Myles, August, and Lucy (children of John), Shelby and Dalton (children of William). In addition, two great grandchildren Krymson and Stetson (children of Hunter).


Honorary mention, brothers of the heart his nephews JW Lisenby, and Doug Burch (Skeebo), daughters of the heart his nieces Betty Ann Turner, Sarah Ashley Rogers
