Mr. William Walter Lear, age 71, died Sunday, September 4, 2016 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Danny Malloy. The family will receive friends from 6:00 -7:00 PM prior to the service at the chapel.


Mr. Lear was born September 19, 1944 in Ruby, SC a son of the late Ernest and May Bell Jordan Lear. He was a retired employee of Takata Highland with over 50 years of service. Mr. Lear was a faithful member of Forest Pines Church and enjoyed going to the nursing homes and ministering in music to the residents. He enjoyed gardening and finding deals at the thrift stores.

In addition to his parents, William was also preceded in death by his brothers, Rev. Harold, Boyd R., and Carroll Lear.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Dale Lear of the home; daughters, Tanya (Eddie) Williams of Chesterfield, SC and Leisa (Jeff) Jacobs of Mt. Croghan, SC; grandchildren, Ethan Williams of Chesterfield, SC, Amanda (Roger) Baskins of Chesterfield, SC, Elizabeth (Kenneth) O’Neal of Patrick, SC, and Lillian Green of Ruby, SC; 3 brothers, Edward Lear of McConnells, SC, Dewey T. Lear of Cheraw, SC, and Ernest Lear, Jr. of Ft. Lawn, SC; 2 sisters, Carol Hancock of Ruby, SC and Margaret Morris of Cheraw, SC.
