INTERMENT: will follow in the James Smith Cemetery

VISITATION: 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Friday, February 19, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall in Cherryville, N.C.

HISTORY: Mr. Smith was born March 3, 1919 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Daniel A. and Mary Smith. He was a retired agent and telegraph operator with Seaboard Airline Railroad. Mr. Smith was a member of Cherryville Masonic Lodge 505 and was a former member and Past Master of Wingate Masonic Lodge 161. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Cherryville, NC, where he served as Deacon and Elder. William enjoyed football, gardening, and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brothers, Hadley Kelly, Adolphus Kelly, Walter D. Smith, and Wilson M. Smith, and by his sisters, Virginia Kelly Farris, and Essie B. Goodman.
