William Henry Wright

Mr. William Henry Wright, age 79, peacefully entered into rest on Monday, April 7, 2025 at Cheraw Healthcare. A graveside service to honor his life will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 12, 2025 in the Chesterfield Cemetery. The Reverend Hank Griffin and Brent Taylor will officiate the service.

Mr. Wright was born March 22, 1946 in the Bucksport Community of Horry County, SC a son of the late Mary Lee Wright and William H. Sarvis. For the past 6 years he resided at Cheraw Healthcare and prior to that he was a beloved resident of CHESCO where he made many friendships throughout the years. He was a loveable soul that was known for his fun loving personality. His life impacted everyone he came in contact with. He not only had a smile that could brighten the darkest room, but had the ability to make everyone around him smile. He would always greet any of his caretakers with a warm hello. He was a strong man with a teddy bears heart. He enjoyed listening to music and one of his favorite discussions was talking about his little red wagon that he loved so much. Known for his easy-going personality, William would always be quick to tell you how much he loved his mama and “Gan-mama.” He was known for his love of Santa Claus and always enjoyed talking about receiving Christmas gifts and expected each holiday to be recognized with a gift. He earned the nickname “Cracker Jack” because everyone knew that was his favorite snack.

The oldest of seven children, William was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been predeceased by his siblings, James Sarvis, Nathaniel Sarvis, Andrure Sarvis, Sandra Sarvis McCray, Michael Sarvis, and Mark Sarvis. He leaves behind a beloved niece, Dr. Lashawnte McCray-Sarvis, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other extended family. Although William had no children of his own, he was loved through everyone that knew him, including his CHESCO and Cheraw Healthcare family that loved him and helped care for him.

William’s life of 79 years is a testimony of the gift that God blessed everyone with that knew him. He was fearfully and wonderfully made in the sight of God. Early Monday morning, God received his special gift home, and his faith became sight.

On Saturday morning, we will gather to lay to rest our friend with the utmost respect and dignity. His casket will be draped with a Christian flag, signifying the everlasting love of God that William experienced all of his life and as a reminder that each of us are loved in the sight of God! His extended family, his adopted family of CHESCO, Cheraw Healthcare, and our community will join together to give God thanks for his life that will continue to live through his memory.
