Mr. Willie Len Hicks, age 82, entered into rest on Friday evening, February 7, 2025 at his home. Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Monday, February 10, 2025 at Jefferson Church of God by Pastor David Grubbs and Reverend Tony Brewer with burial to follow in the Jefferson Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm Monday, prior to the service at the church.
Born on March 25, 1942, in Jefferson, SC, Mr. Hicks was the son of the late Willie Anderson Hicks and Azilee Baker Hicks. He dedicated over 40 years of his working life to Sonoco Products before retiring. A faithful member of the Jefferson Church of God, he was known for his passion for the outdoors, particularly enjoying his pool, which became known as the "Town Pool."
Mr. Hicks is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Clara Hardee Hicks, as well as his siblings: Elaine Adcock, Imogene Gann, Lib Mills, Clarice Funderburk, Carolyn Murphy, Sue Schroeder, Garlin Hicks, Donald Hicks, and his grandson, Austin Clark.
He is survived by his wife of five years, Mary Kirkley Hicks, of the home; his daughter, Toni Hicks (Rev. Tony) Brewer of Jefferson, SC; his son, Steven Len (Jan) Hicks of Lancaster, SC; grandchildren Hillary Brewer (Matthew) Lynes, Charley Brewer, Corey (April) Brewer, Hannah Hicks, and Leah Hicks; stepdaughters Delane Kirkley Clark of Pageland, SC, Loretta (Joe) Kirkley Terranella of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and Amy Kirkley of Jefferson, SC; step-grandchildren Donavon (Amy) Small, Shelly (Jamie) Jowers, Tyler Smothers, and Kirkley Smothers; as well as 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Mr. Hicks is also survived by his sister, Diane Cole of Peachtree City, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff of Gentiva Hospice of Chesterfield and caregiver Brenda Goatley for their outstanding care and support during this time.
