Zona Deese Adams

Morven, NC

Ms. Zona Deese Adams, age 94, entered into rest on Sunday, September 22, 2019. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Morven Baptist Church by Pastor Tommy Threatt, Dr. Tom Parrish, and Rev. D.W. Carpenter with the eulogy being delivered by her granddaughter, Tonya Abbott. The burial will follow the service in the Morven Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Ms. Adams was born May 13, 1925 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late Lucian and Lelia Purvis Deese. She was a former employee of Sacony and retired from J.P. Stevens. A faithful Christian lady, Mrs. Adams loved the Lord and faithfully served him throughout the years. She was a dedicated member of Morven Baptist Church, where she served as former church treasurer and was an adult choir member. Zona was a great cook and was known for her delicious desserts. She was a lady revered by her family for her faith, her exemplary work ethic, and her selfless and tireless love for her family. Her life taught the lesson of treating everyone as you wish to be treated.

In addition to her parents, Zona was also preceded in death by son, Jack Adams; brothers, James, Harold, Martin, Powell Deese; sisters, Ethel Parrish, Essie Boswell, Lucille Gathings, and Clella Deese.

Survivors include her son, James (Jane) Adams of Chesterfield, SC; daughter, Dorothy (James) Quick of Bennettsville, SC; daughter-in-law, Dale Adams of Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren, Tonya (Jim) Abbott, William Ashley (Lesley) Quick, and Jadd “Jo Jo” Adams; great grandchildren, Kennedy, Kassidy, Hudson, and Brooks; and sister, Hazel (Wayne) Surratte of Monroe, NC.
